Yan Diomande is the big discovery of this Bundesliga season. The 19-year-old attacking player from RB Leipzig has made the leap from talent to top performer at breathtaking speed and has long been one of the most exciting footballers in the league. FC Bayern are also keeping an eye on the winger’s resounding rise – but a potential transfer is hardly realistic as things stand
Diomande was still a largely unknown name in the summer when Leipzig signed him for around 20 million euros from CD Leganés. Today, the Ivorian is one of the most dangerous attacking players in the league. In 15 appearances, he has scored seven goals and four assists – including a spectacular treble last weekend in the 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt
His explosive dynamism, dribbling ability and efficiency in the final third have made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe in a very short space of time. Sky reports that almost all top clubs are scouting the 19-year-old intensively – especially clubs from the Premier League
Bayern find Diomande exciting – but the price is absurdly high
According to information from Sky, FC Bayern is also interested in Diomande. The interest is certainly there, but the key question is the transfer fee. And that is exactly where a big exclamation mark is set
Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg speaks of a price tag „well over 100 million euros“. Leipzig holds all the trump cards with the shooting star. Diomande is tied up long-term until 2030 and there is no exit clause
The Bundesliga club can therefore act confidently – and is doing so. For Bayern, this means that the player is exciting, but the poker is currently „not hot“, as Plettenberg emphasises. A signing would hardly be financially feasible
It’s a familiar pattern in Leipzig: young players are tied down for the long term early on, developed athletically and only then – if at all – sold for astronomical sums. Diomande’s path is predetermined. His performances, his potential and his contract situation make him one of the most valuable assets in the Bundesliga
The situation is clear for Bayern: they are monitoring his development, but it would not make sense to make a move at the moment. Instead, Diomande remains a name for long-term market observation – no more, but also no less
The shooting star is on the record champions‘ radar, but as long as Leipzig demand more than 100 million euros, FC Bayern is merely an observer in a transfer poker of the next magnitude.
