Daniel Peretz has been loaned out by FC Bayern to Hamburger SV, where things are not going well for the keeper. Now he talks about his situation in the Hanseatic city.
Daniel Peretz is experiencing a season in Hamburg that was certainly not in his plan. The goalkeeper on loan from FC Bayern actually wanted to make his breakthrough at HSV – regular appearances, development, the chance to recommend himself as number one. But after six months, the Israeli has only made one competitive appearance. Recently, there has been increasing speculation that the 25-year-old could break off his loan in the winter.
In an interview with Sport BILD, Peretz explained his view of the situation: „I came to HSV to play as many games as possible. I am now accepting the situation, looking from game to game, training hard and trying to give my best every day – to make it as difficult as possible for the coaching team,“ he said.
Even if he accepts his place behind regular keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes, he is by no means happy with it. „Of course I’m not happy about it,“ the goalkeeper explained openly. However, this does not change his ambitions: „My goal is still to play every game.“
Peretz could also have moved to Eindhoven
Although HSV coach Merlin Polzin has recently held intensive talks with Peretz again, the coach has no plans to change goalkeepers. The Bayern loanee will therefore remain a reserve for the time being.
Although Peretz could have moved to PSV Eindhoven in the summer, he made a conscious decision to stay at HSV, convinced that he could make a name for himself in the Bundesliga.
Despite setbacks, Peretz remains combative. The keeper wants to fight his way through and accept the competition. His focus is clearly on Hamburg – and on his own development. His statements do not sound like a loan break.
Peretz also spoke about his greatest sporting influence: Manuel Neuer. The keeper describes what he has learned from him as follows: „A lot, because he is the greatest goalkeeper of all time, who has changed the goalkeeping game decisively. Even before I went to Bayern, I had watched a lot of videos of him: his saves, his passes. And then I was able to get to know him personally, train with him, which helped me a lot. His mental strength, his professional behaviour, is also fascinating. Of course, you can’t copy Manu, but you can learn a lot from him. I look up to him.“
