At the presentation of Vincent Kompany at FC Bayern, sporting director Max Eberl announces a change of course in his dealings with coaches. At the same time, he is fully convinced of the decision in favour of the Belgian.

Sporting director Max Eberl wants to put an end to FC Bayern’s hire-and-fire policy with its coaches. At the presentation of new coach Vincent Kompany, he took a critical look back at the club’s approach in the past and announced more consistency for the future.

„We’ve had a high turnover of coaches recently. We want to change that, the coach is a very important person at the club. We have a great opportunity to row back on a few things and become a unit again,“ said Eberl at the press conference in the Allianz Arena.

Eberl said of Kompany: „We now have a young coach who has been at the helm for four years. He has a strong personality, that impressed us. We want to stand together as one. We are now drawing a line under the search for a coach. We will also go through valleys together and want to work together for a long time.“

Dreesen on Kompany: „The one for all“

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said of the long search for a coach: „We had a long decision-making process. But we all agreed that Vincent Kompany is the right man for the job.“

There had previously been reports that supervisory board members Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would have preferred to bring back Hansi Flick instead of relying on the still inexperienced Kompany. However, Dreesen made it clear that all those responsible at the club were behind the decision in favour of Kompany: „The first impressions were totally positive. He is the one for everyone. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have worked intensively on this in recent weeks.“
