When asked whether Kompany feels like a stopgap solution after the many cancellations, the 38-year-old was very relaxed: „I was able to talk to Max, Christoph and others. I’m beginning to understand the search for a coach. The fact that I am here means that they are doing a very good job.
Interestingly, reports have recently been doing the rounds that Kompany is primarily a candidate of sporting director Max Eberl. According to his own statements, however, he has also felt the support of the other Bayern bosses from the outset: „I have now also spoken to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß and they are also behind me. But I don’t want everyone to be convinced of me only in front of them, but also of my work on the pitch during my time here.
