Now it’s finalised. Vincent Kompany is the new head coach of FC Bayern. In a video released by the club, he speaks to the fans for the first time and explains what he plans to do with the German record champions.

After a long search, FC Bayern has found a successor to Thomas Tuchel in Vincent Kompany. The 38-year-old Belgian travelled to Munich on Monday to sign his contract, which runs until 2027. The club released a short video of the new head coach introducing himself and his plans for FCB.

When asked how it feels to be the new head coach of FC Bayern, he replied in English: „First of all, it’s a privilege. It’s a great honour, I’m excited.“

Kompany went on to say that he had a positive feeling and was in good spirits: „I’m looking forward to working with the players and the staff. Hopefully I can give the fans everything they love about this club,“ he said.

This is how Kompany wants to play football at FC Bayern

With regard to his way of playing football, Kompany made it clear that he „believes that if you stand for something, it has to be in line with your own values.“

He describes these values as follows: „I grew up in the streets of Brussels, where we love playing with the ball. We are creative. I like players who are brave on the ball. But I’ve also always been a very strong tackler and I want the team to embody that. I also want the team to be brave and play physically.“

The Belgian continued: „I see FC Bayern as an institution.“ He is most looking forward to the simple things, i.e. working with the players and the people at the club: „I want to create something that can be described as a team. The very simple things. I don’t think you have to make it any more complicated. The rest comes naturally.“
