Bayern’s season could not have ended on a more unpleasant note. Munich lost 3-2 to Hoffenheim, lost second place to VfB Stuttgart and, to make matters worse, Aleksandar Pavlovic was injured. At least there is some positive news regarding the Bayern youngster.

When Aleksandar Pavlovic came to a halt on the pitch in Hoffenheim after around half an hour, holding his ankle, many feared the end of the 20-year-old’s European Championship dreams. However, the all-clear was given the following day. The ankle injury turned out not to be serious.

One week after the mishap, the midfielder was able to complete a training session on the Säbener Straße pitch again. According to BILD, Pavlovic will be able to resume his normal preparations for the European Championship tournament, which opens in Munich on 14 June with the match against Scotland.

DFB team tests two more times

This is particularly important for Pavlovic because he may be one of the candidates whose place at the European Championship is not yet 100 per cent guaranteed. Julian Nagelsmann still has to sort out one player before the start. It is extremely valuable for Pavlovic to be able to present himself in the training sessions with the DFB team and also in the test matches. The national team will play preparation matches against Ukraine (3 June) and Greece (7 June) before the European Championship.

Pavlovic is battling with Robert Andrich and Pascal Groß for a place in the centre of midfield alongside Toni Kroos. However, Andrich in particular is currently likely to have the better chances. Despite everything, it cannot be ruled out that Pavlovic could play a bigger role at the upcoming European Championships, even if his time in the DFB team will probably only come after Kroos‘ impending retirement.
