Alongside Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Bouna Sarr is also leaving FC Bayern at the end of the season. Although the Senegal international hardly got a chance to play for the German record champions, he has now bid farewell to the „Bayern family“ with warm words.

Both Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr were officially bid farewell during the last Bundesliga home game against VFL Wolfsburg the other day. Sarr was a permanent reserve during his four years in Munich – most recently he was absent due to a cruciate ligament rupture. He did not play in the final game of the season against TSG Hoffenheim.

In an Instagram post, Sarr addressed a few words to the fans of FC Bayern: „After four seasons at the club, it’s time for me to say goodbye. But above all, I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Over the four years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting great people and I feel honoured to have been part of the wonderful ‚FC Bayern family‘.“

Sarr continued: „Whether in good times or in difficult times: I have learnt and for that I am grateful. I wish you all the best and the greatest possible success, because this club, which is one of the best in the world, deserves that.“ Of course, the hashtag „Mia san Mia“ was also a must.

Sarr back to France?

Sarr moved from Olympique Marseille to Munich in 2020 shortly before the end of the summer transfer window. At the time, Hansi Flick was pushing for the signing of a defender for the right flank. However, Sarr was unable to make an impact with Flick or any of the subsequent coaches. In his four years at the club, the 32-year-old made just 16 Bundesliga appearances.

Accordingto information from Foot Mercato, Sarr could return to France in the summer. Several Ligue 1 clubs are interested in signing the Senegalese defender on a free transfer. Sarr himself is also rumoured to be considering a return to France.
