Paul Wanner is regarded as one of the most promising talents to emerge from the FC Bayern campus in recent years. The talented attacking player spent last season on loan at Elversberg, where the youngster impressed with his strong performances. Now Wanner is to be loaned out to a top-class club for a further year, and a specific interested party has already been identified.
According to Sky, Paul Wanner is on the list of Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven. Bayern have already received several enquiries for the player, who is due to be loaned out again next summer. Following his successful loan spell at Elversberg, a number of clubs have been keeping an eye on the youngster. This time, however, they would like to loan the 18-year-old to a Bundesliga club or a club in Europe’s top leagues.
Within the club, those responsible at the German record champions are said to see great potential in the 18-year-old. A further loan of the attacking talent would therefore be a tactical move to guarantee Wanner playing time and at the same time tie him to the club. According to the report, the Bayern bosses are convinced that the youngster has the prospect of becoming a permanent fixture in the Bayern squad.
Can Wanner establish himself at Bayern?
Wanner made his Bundesliga debut for the Munich side at the age of 16 years and 15 days, making him the youngest player to feature in a competitive match for the club to date. The youngster has made a total of eight appearances for the German record champions, six of them in the Bundesliga.
In the past season, the 18-year-old made 27 appearances for Elversberg in the second division. Thanks in part to Wanner’s contribution, the newly promoted team surprisingly finished eleventh in the second division. He scored six goals and made four assists. The midfielder has both a German and an Austrian passport and could therefore also play for the Austrian national team.
