Cancelo on his time at Bayern: „Bundesliga was more difficult than I thought“
In the 22/23 season, João Cancelo won the German championship with FC Bayern Munich. The Portuguese now talks about his time in the Bundesliga and admits that the challenge was greater than he had expected.
„The Bundesliga was more difficult than I thought,“ João Cancelo told Portugal’s A Bola: „I thought it would be easier in the German league than it was and that Bayern Munich would dominate much more, especially because they won ten titles in a row,“ said the full-back, describing his thoughts on his time at Bayern. At the end of January 2023, the Portuguese decided to leave Manchester for six months of match practice with the German record champions.
Cancelo raves about his time at Bayern: „Team full of talent“
„Things got complicated in the end because Dortmund were doing very well when I arrived. They played very good football,“ recalls the 50-time Portugal international, who followed his loan to Munich with another loan to Barcelona, where the player now seems to be happy.
The flexible full-back raved about his time at FCB: „I had the pleasure of playing for this team full of talent and was lucky enough to win a title with the club.“
cancelo played 15 games in the Bundesliga and made a total of 21 appearances for Munich. he currently has 32 appearances in all competitions to his name as a player for FC Barcelona. He decided in favour of a temporary move to the Bavarian capital due to an alleged rift with Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. Officially, the 29-year-old would return to the Skyblues at the end of the season, but it is considered unlikely that Cancelo sees his future in the Premier League or at Manchester City.

Jupp bin ganz deiner Meinung aber da hat der Seegreis was dagegen gehabt bzw. als Aufsichtsrstsmitglied sein Veto eingelegt (Daumen nach unten wie bei Kaiser Nero).
Jedes Mal wenn du Uli beleidigst, stell ich mir einfach vor was du bist.
Und glaub mir, lieber ein Greis vom See sein als einer der kleine Kinder mag!
Er hat anfangs gute Spiele abgeliefert. Ist dann dem von Nagelsmann entwickelten System zum Opfer gefallen: Davies als Bonusspieler offensiv Linksaußen und defensiv linker AV. Da brauchte man rechts einen defensiven AV (Pavard). War einfach kein Platz für Cancelo.
Ja eigentlich ein begnadeter RV . Muß aber ins System passen. Ich fand es schade, daß man im Sommer die Leihe nicht verlängert hat. Und die Ablöse war ja verhandelbar wie man jetzt sieht. Wahrscheinlich hätte man ihn für 35 Mio bekommen. Und wenn ich ihn mit Boey Vergleiche,wüsste ich für wen ich mich entscheiden würde.
Wie kannst du ihn mit Boey vergleichen, wenn der noch fast gar nicht gespielt hat für uns?
An seinen milimetergenauen Pass von der Grundlinie direkt im ersten Spiel kann ich mich noch gut erinnern. Feiner Techniker. Er hatte das Pech, ähnlich wie Kane danach, in diese unstrukturierte Bayern-Elf zu kommen. Ohne leader, ohne Achse. Einfach irgendwie elf Mann… mal so, mal so. Das haben sich beide aus der Ferne sicher anders vorgestellt. Eben so, wie man es kannte. Dominante Bayern.
Cancelo ist um einiges talentierter als Boey, Mazraoui oder Stanisic, dazu flexibel einsetzbar. Wir hätten ihn über eine weitere Leihe einfach behalten sollen. Ein feiner Fußballer, der uns noch viel hätte geben können, wie man derzeit auch in Barcelona sehen kann. Für mich eine Fehlentscheidung, ihn wegzuschicken.
Alles wahr, was ihr so schreibt, aber Gehalt war sehr hoch und charakterlich ist er schwierig obendrein.
Dann hätter er ja perfekt zu uns gepaßt!
Aber vermutlich nicht schwieriger als Sané…. Vom ein oder anderen ganz zu schweigen.
