FC Bayern have been trying to extend Alphonso Davies‘ contract for some time now. Director of Sport Max Eberl has now commented on the current status of the contract poker with the Canadian and emphasised that the left-back must make a decision soon.

The contract poker with Alphonso Davies has been dragging on for almost a year. In the spring of 2023, FC Bayern were on the verge of an extension, but the departure of Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn put the planned extension on hold.

Head of Sport Max Eberl commented on the Davies case in an interview with Sport BILD as follows: „Negotiations have been going on for some time, but then came to a standstill last summer. We are dealing with the issue.“

Bayern do not want to improve Davies‘ offer

Interestingly, according to Eberl, the ball is in the player’s court. Accordingly, Munich are waiting for an answer from Davies: „I can say: We have made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer. At some point in your life, you have to say yes or no.“

As reported by Sport BILD, this is a final offer and Bayern are not willing to make a further financial offer. According to Sport BILD, the record champions are offering the left-back an extension until 2029 with a salary of 13 to 14 million euros. The problem: Davies is said to be demanding 20 million euros per season.

When asked about a possible move to Real Madrid, Eberl revealed that the two clubs have not been in contact so far: „Real Madrid have not contacted us.“

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Bayern want to have clarity on the left-back position as quickly as possible. The aim is to reach a decision on Davies by June.

If the deal is not extended, they will push for a sale in the summer and look for alternatives on the transfer market. Theo Hernandez from AC Milan is rumoured to be Davies‘ preferred successor.
