With the extension of Mathys Tel’s contract until 2029 and the signing of the talented Jonah Kusi-Asare, those responsible have achieved two milestones that fit perfectly into Bayern’s new transfer strategy. Why is that?

As reported by BILD, Bayern are still planning transfers on the scale of Harry Kane. From time to time, such deals are rumoured to happen. In the meantime, however, the people in charge are hoping that Christoph Freund and Max Eberl will discover good players before they become really expensive.

Christoph Freund already has a few examples of this in his CV. For example, he was the one who brought Erling Haaland to Salzburg in January 2019 and thus made a global career possible for the Norwegian.

Kusi-Asare: New Bayern strategy a success

With the signing of Jonah Kusi-Asare (five million euros), the club was able to sign a talented player and finalise a deal that fits in perfectly with the tactics described above. The Swede is regarded as one of Europe’s greatest forward talents. As is well known, the 16-year-old Swede joined the German record champions in February 2024.

The 1.96-metre-tall Swedish junior international with Ghanaian roots initially joined Bayern’s U19s from AIK Solna in the Swedish Premier League.

The contract extension of Mathys Tel, who has now been tied to Munich until 2029, is also seen as a sign of things to come. It remains to be seen which deals of this kind will be announced in the future and, above all, which players will actually be able to establish themselves in Munich.

In November 2023, for example, there were reports of the transfer of 18-year-old Nestory Irankunda, who will play for Bayern from 1 July 2024. Described as one of Australia’s greatest talents, the teenager was recently reported to be in crisis.
