FC Bayern’s final preseason test against 1. FC Heidenheim was meant to prepare the record champions for their Super Cup match against BVB. However, there was another scare.
Over the weekend at the Telekom Cup against RB Leipzig (3–1), the Bayern forward had already been substituted after collapsing on the field due to circulatory problems.
Fortunately, the all-clear was given quickly. The emergency doctor remained on the field during the game but gave the thumbs-up after a brief check. After the game, Max Eberl confirmed that the player was doing well again.
Musiala collapsed again
After a brief break from training, Musiala was back in training on Monday and completed a short, 30-minute session. This was considered a stress test, which the player passed.
Although the national team player was absent from the team presentation at the campus, he was on the roster for the match in Heidenheim and came on as a substitute. Musiala made an immediate impact, setting up a chance for Kane and showing great commitment.
However, the joy over his performance didn’t last long. Suddenly, after just under 70 minutes, Musiala was down on the field again. He received immediate treatment, and uncertainty and an eerie silence fell over the stadium.
After just under a minute, however, Musiala was back on his feet. At first, it was unclear what had caused the break for treatment—whether his circulation was acting up again or if there was another reason. According to Maximilian Koch of the Abendzeitung, he collapsed on the field once more.
In any case, Musiala was at least able to leave the field on his own and at a brisk pace. However, concerns at FC Bayern following this second incident in such quick succession are unlikely to subside.
The FC Bayern forward is expected to undergo a more thorough examination after the game. However, an examination was also conducted after the game against Leipzig, which did not result in any cause for concern.
