Eric Dier will not be leaving FC Bayern at the end of the current season. As confirmed by sporting director Max Eberl, the defender’s contract has been extended early until 2025.
In recent days, several media outlets have unanimously reported that Eric Dier’s expiring contract has been automatically extended until the summer of 2025. Accordingly, the 30-year-old has fulfilled the contractual obligations required for his contract in Munich to run for a further 12 months. This was confirmed by sporting director Max Eberl in an interview with DAZN on Friday evening during the Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg.
Eberl: „Dier will definitely help us“
Munich signed Dier from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in January. The loan contract originally only ran until 30 June. According to BILD, however, the defender only needed three appearances to extend his contract.
While the Englishman was labelled an emergency solution by many fans and experts, Dier has shown strong form in recent weeks. So far, the defender has made seven appearances for the record champions. Eberl also made it clear that Dier „definitely helps“ Bayern.
