Ahead of SC Freiburg’s league match against FC Bayern tonight (8.30pm, live on DAZN), Christian Streich spoke about Bayern’s supposed crisis, which he clearly can’t take entirely seriously.
„In the media, it’s the end of the world if Bayern don’t win two games in a row. They won their last game against Leipzig and will try to beat us tomorrow,“ emphasised Christian Streich at the press conference ahead of Sportclub’s home game against Bayern.
„We have nothing to lose“
So is FCB’s supposed crisis actually a media crisis? In any case, the 58-year-old also hinted at how his team would like to annoy the visitors from Munich on Friday.
„We will do everything we can to make it as difficult as possible for them, we have to find our moments and show an exceptional performance,“ the head coach appealed to his team. „The boys are very motivated, we have nothing to lose. Bayern will be strong and we also have to be very strong,“ added the coach, who has been on the bench at the Breisgau club since 2012. Freiburg have lost four of their last five league games, with only one ending in a draw.
Before this game on matchday 24 of the Bundesliga kicks off at 8.30pm on Friday, the record of these two teams could have a reassuring effect on Bayern players and fans. FCB won the home game against Freiburg 3-0 on 8 October last year, and the last away game in Freiburg on 8 April 2023 was also decided by the Munich side – as the corresponding match ended 1-0 in favour of FCB. Just four days before that match, however, SCF were able to knock Bayern out of the DFB Cup with a 2-1 win in Munich. Now the cards are being reshuffled.
