FC Bayern continues to work on its goalkeeping future. Now, the Munich club has been offered another Bundesliga goalkeeper: Fabian Bredlow.
At FC Bayern, the search for a potential new backup goalkeeper for the upcoming season is gaining momentum. The Munich club is already preparing for life after Manuel Neuer and is evaluating numerous candidates for the future goalkeeping hierarchy.
Now, it appears another name has been added to the list.
As reported by Sky, Fabian Bredlow of VfB Stuttgart has been offered to FC Bayern. The 31-year-old could thus move to Munich starting next season as the number two behind Jonas Urbig.
However, no decision has been made yet. Bayern has not yet responded to the offer and is apparently currently considering other candidates.
Bredlow is under contract with VfB Stuttgart through the summer of 2027. He would therefore be a potential option for Munich should the planned restructuring of the goalkeeper position actually create a need.
Bayern is looking for an experienced backup for Urbig
Bayern’s requirements are now clear. Should Neuer retire at the end of the season, Urbig is set to become the new number one. Behind the 23-year-old, club officials want to bring in an experienced goalkeeper who accepts the new hierarchy and, at the same time, possesses sufficient quality to step in when needed.
The list of potential candidates is already extensive. Most recently, Kevin Trapp, Marvin Schwäbe, Frederik Rönnow, Lukas Hradecky, Koen Casteels, Nick Pope, Juan Musso, and Rui Silva, among others, have been linked with FC Bayern.
Finn Dahmen and Bernd Leno have also already been considered by the Munich club.
Bredlow would, in principle, fit the desired profile. He is familiar with the Bundesliga, brings experience to the table, and wouldn’t need to be developed as a long-term number one. The decisive factor, however, would be whether Bayern actually views him as a suitable complement to Urbig from a sporting perspective.
The fact that the Munich club has not yet responded to the offer and is favoring other options indicates, in any case, that Bredlow is apparently not yet a concrete target.
The general direction, however, remains clear. Bayern is planning for the post-Neuer era with Urbig as the new number one and is specifically looking for an experienced goalkeeper to back him up.
Whether Bredlow will take on this role remains to be seen. But his name is apparently now on the table for the club’s decision-makers.
