At FC Bayern, planning for the upcoming season has long been in full swing—and apparently the same goes for equipment sponsor Adidas. Although the 2026–27 season is still in full swing, the first details about Munich’s home jersey for the 2027–28 season have already emerged. These details hint at a striking change: The record champions are set to take the field in a significantly darker shade of red in the future.
As reported by Footy Headlines, a website specializing in soccer jerseys, Adidas is using the shade “Active Maroon” for the new Bayern home jersey. This is a dark red with a distinct hint of burgundy. This would set the new design apart from the classic, bright Bayern red.
But it’s not just the color choice that’s likely to spark conversation. Adidas is also apparently drawing deeply from the club’s history when it comes to the pattern. The jersey is set to feature a diamond pattern throughout, reminiscent of traditional Bavarian heritage and the club crest.
Adidas is bringing back the diamond pattern
The diamond pattern has been a recurring design element on Bayern jerseys for decades. It was particularly prominent during the 2013–14 season, among others. Adidas also incorporated similar design elements into the home jersey for the 2019–20 season.
For the 2027/28 season, the pattern is set to play a central role once again. Unlike a simple, solid-color jersey, the diamonds will cover the entire surface.
In doing so, Adidas would be combining tradition with an eye-catching, modern look.
The connection to the club crest is likely a deliberate choice. After all, the white-and-blue diamonds are among the most recognizable features of Germany’s record-holding champion.

In addition to the dark red and the diamond pattern, gold is also set to play an important role.
According to Footy Headlines, the three Adidas stripes on the jersey will be gold. There will also be gold accents on the collar and cuffs.
This would mark the second consecutive season that FC Bayern has opted for gold accents as a complementary jersey color. For the 2027–28 season, however, the shade of gold is expected to be slightly darker.
The combination of burgundy and gold could give the home jersey a particularly elegant look. At the same time, it would represent a significant visual departure from the classic Bayern home jerseys.
According to current information, the Adidas home jersey is scheduled to be unveiled in May 2027.
