A high-profile transfer opportunity could open up for FC Bayern this winter. According to information from fussball-news.de, the Munich club is taking a close look at Dani Olmo of FC Barcelona and preparing a potential move.
The 28-year-old is, in principle, a very good fit for the profile they’re looking for. Bayern wants to broaden its offensive options and is seeking a player who can play multiple positions. Olmo can be deployed both centrally behind the striker and on either wing.
There is no concrete offer yet. However, according to information from fussball-news.de, preparations for a potential move are already underway behind the scenes. Interestingly, Olmo is anything but an unknown candidate at Säbener Straße.
Eberl is considered a big fan of Olmo
Sports director Max Eberl, in particular, is said to hold the Spanish national team player in very high regard. Even during his time at RB Leipzig, Eberl took a keen interest in Olmo. Even after Olmo’s move to FC Barcelona, the attacking player remained a topic of discussion at Bayern.
However, the Munich club has already tried twice in the past to sign Olmo—and been turned down both times. His agent, Andy Bara, recently confirmed this publicly. “He turned down Bayern on my recommendation while he was still at Dinamo,” Bara explained. At the time, he advised his client to take a stopgap move, after which Olmo transferred to RB Leipzig in 2020.
Apparently, Munich made another attempt later on. “Later, while he was playing for Leipzig, he received another offer from Bayern,” Bara revealed. Ultimately, however, Olmo opted for his dream club, FC Barcelona.
Now there could be a third attempt.
Bayern, however, is by no means the only club linked to Olmo. Through intermediaries, his situation is said to have been brought to the attention of several top European clubs. Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have reportedly been made aware of his potential availability. Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia is also said to have been informed.
Barça could demand between 80 and 90 million euros

FC Barcelona’s stance remains crucial. Olmo has a contract with the Catalans through 2030, so Barça is under no obligation to sell him. Nevertheless, the club’s ongoing financial strain could make a lucrative sale an attractive option.
According to information from fussball-news.de, Barcelona is likely to ask for at least 80 to 90 million euros in any potential negotiations. Olmo’s market value is currently estimated at around 60 million euros.
Barça is reportedly willing to consider realistic offers, provided a large portion of the transfer fee is paid upfront.
For Bayern, however, such a sum would still represent a massive investment in the winter transfer window. In addition to the transfer fee, the Munich club would ultimately also have to cover Olmo’s salary. A winter signing therefore seems rather unlikely, especially since Olmo plays a key role on the field under Hansi Flick.
On the field, however, there is little doubt about his quality. The Spaniard is technically strong, resilient under pressure, and capable of finding solutions in tight spaces. His versatility would give Vincent Kompany additional options on offense.
