FC Bayern will face Union Berlin at home on Friday evening. The match at the Allianz Arena kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany will field the following starting lineup.
Before the two-week international break, FC Bayern will host Union Berlin on Matchday 4. Before most of the Bayern stars head off to join their respective national teams, the team is aiming for its third Bundesliga win against Union. Kompany has a full roster to choose from. After Jonas Urbig started in goal against Elversberg, Manuel Neuer is back between the posts today.
In front of him, Josip Stanisic, Jonathan Tah, Dayot Upamecano, and Alphonso Davies form the back four.
In central midfield, Joshua Kimmich returns to the starting lineup. Aleksandar Pavlovic starts alongside him.
Musiala starts at the number 10 position
Jamal Musiala starts in central attacking midfield. Michael Olise thus moves back to the right wing after starting in the center against Elversberg. On the left wing, Luis Diaz completes Bayern’s attacking trio.
Up front, Harry Kane starts from the beginning, as usual.
At the press conference, Kompany explained that he expects an opponent who may have a specific game plan for Bayern: “We always discuss the opponent’s approach. Schalke and Bodo/Glimt came in with a completely different game plan; we’re used to teams having a Bayern-specific game plan.”
At the same time, he emphasized that his team will be well-prepared regardless: “As a coach, you always need a keen sense of the situation. Union has undergone a major overhaul. They’ve brought in a very successful coach. The confidence he brings will also have an impact on their decisions. No matter what happens, we’re prepared for an opponent to make adjustments.”
