FC Bayern’s new Oktoberfest jersey is sparking debate among fans. In today’s Bundesliga home game against Union Berlin, the German record champions will take the field in this year’s Oktoberfest jersey for the first time. However, fans have made it clear that they don’t like the eye-catching look.
In the Bayern section, a banner reading “Club colors are sacrosanct” was on display. With this, the fans were expressing their opposition to the special jersey, which looks significantly different from the classic Bayern jerseys.
The fans also voiced their displeasure audibly. Chants demanding “We want red-and-white jerseys” could be heard from the stands.
The reason for the criticism lies in the design of this year’s Oktoberfest jersey. Instead of the traditional club colors of red and white, an eye-catching, colorful floral pattern dominates. Adidas has opted for bold hues and modern interpretations of floral motifs intended to evoke the atmosphere of Munich’s Oktoberfest.
Eye-Catching Design for Oktoberfest
The jersey also differs from the classic Bayern jersey in its details. On the chest is a Bayern emblem designed specifically for the Wiesn, with the Adidas trefoil logo next to it. The official Oktoberfest logo is also featured on the back of the neck.
FC Bayern traditionally uses this special jersey to connect the club with Munich’s Wiesn. This year, however, the look is particularly colorful and modern. It was already clear at the unveiling that the jersey relies significantly less on the club’s classic colors.
For some fans, that’s exactly the problem. With banners and chants during the Union match, they made it clear that they want the Bayern jerseys to lean more heavily toward red and white.
