FC Bayern has Man United prospect JJ Gabriel on its radar. Sporting director Christoph Freund has now made some telling comments about the 15-year-old.
FC Bayern is keeping an eye on Joseph Junior Andreou Gabriel, better known as JJ Gabriel. It was recently reported that the Munich club had already inquired about the 15-year-old attacking talent from Manchester United. Now, sporting director Christoph Freund has spoken publicly about Gabriel for the first time.
At the press conference ahead of the Bundesliga match against Union Berlin, Freund did not want to confirm any concrete transfer interest. However, he clearly thinks highly of the youngster’s qualities: “I don’t talk about players who are under contract with other clubs. We’re familiar with the player because he’s very, very talented. He’s certainly an exceptional talent. But I can’t say any more than that,” said Freund.
Things got even more interesting when asked whether FC Bayern is currently in contact with Gabriel or his representatives. Freund replied succinctly: “Not at the moment.”
Bayern already has Gabriel on its radar
That phrasing at least leaves open the possibility that there may have been prior contact. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Bayern had made several calls to inquire about Gabriel’s situation. The Athletic also lists the Munich club among the interested parties, alongside Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite his enormous potential, Gabriel could leave Manchester United soon. According to The Athletic, the winger has asked to terminate his contract so he can take on a new challenge. Real Madrid is reportedly making an intense push to sign him.
The 15-year-old is one of the most promising talents in English youth soccer. Last season, he was named the best player in the English U18 league—the youngest player ever to receive the honor.
