Ndiaye will join from the Gambinos Stars Africa. The soccer academy in The Gambia partners with Red & Gold Football, the talent development joint venture between FC Bayern and Los Angeles FC.
Despite this connection, the transfer ultimately came down to money. According to information from *kicker*, Bayern will pay well under five million euros for Ndiaye.
The trade magazine also expects the transfer to be made official in the coming days. He is then expected to join the team on their Asian tour, which begins in early August.
Sapoko Ndiaye is slated to be Bayern’s fourth-choice central midfielder—behind Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Tom Bischof. He is effectively taking over the roster spot previously held by Leon Goretzka; the sale of Noel Aseko to Eintracht Frankfurt was also partly due to his arrival.
Bayern wants to challenge and develop him; Vincent Kompany is generally regarded as someone who thinks highly of the midfielder, which is why he threw him into the deep end on several occasions last season.
