Negotiations between FC Bayern and Konrad Laimer had been ongoing for some time, and they have now been successfully concluded.
The Austrian has now officially extended his contract with the record-holding champions one year before it was set to expire.
What Laimer had already told media representatives this afternoon as he was leaving the club’s offices has now been confirmed by the club.
Laimer remains loyal to Bayern
The back-and-forth between the Austrian and FCB lasted several months, and at times, the two sides were at loggerheads. In the end, however, both sides reached an agreement.
Laimer was a key part of Bayern’s roster, particularly last season, and played exceptionally well.
“We’re delighted that Konny will continue his journey with FC Bayern. He’s the very definition of reliability at the highest level, and with his skills and character, he’s a vital part of the team. He’s a player who inspires and motivates others—every single day,” explained sporting director Max Eberl.
“For me, it’s something very special to take the field in the FC Bayern jersey. I’ve often emphasized how happy I am in Munich and that it’s a lot of fun to play soccer on this team,” Laimer himself is quoted as saying.
He continued: “I’ve felt that here from day one. I can help the team in many different roles and want to continue giving my all for FC Bayern every single second. With this team, anything is possible, and I’m already looking forward to the season starting again.”
Laimer’s new contract is now valid through the summer of 2029. The Austrian is also set to receive a pay raise, though it will be moderate within the club’s guidelines.
That was a major point of discussion at the start of the talks, but the two sides have since reached a significant compromise.
