FC Bayern Munich has already made two major signings this summer, so it needs to generate revenue in order to be able to make further moves in the transfer market later on. In that regard, there is now some good news.
The record champions are set to earn a share of the transfer fee for a former player: Tanguy Nianzou, the talented defender who joined from PSG on a free transfer in 2020.
At Bayern, Nianzou showed promise but also struggled with injuries. He also had some concentration issues. In 2022, he moved on to Sevilla FC.
Bayern stands to profit from Nianzou’s transfer
At the time, the record champions received around 16 million euros for the center back. However, a clause was also included in the contract that is likely to benefit Bayern in several ways. That’s because Nianzou has now moved from Sevilla FC to OSC Lille, and the deal has been officially confirmed.
As several media outlets have recently reported, the sale will initially trigger bonus payments totaling four million euros.
In addition, the record champions are said to have secured a 22.5 percent share of any future transfer fee. That would mean another, smaller share of the proceeds, as the transfer fee is no longer in the range of the 16 million euros Bayern received at the time.
The latest reports indicate that three to six million euros will go to FC Sevilla. In the best-case scenario, this would mean that Bayern would receive an additional 1.35 million euros, bringing their total earnings to more than five million euros.
This, too, represents significant revenue that can help further pad the record champion’s coffers. Additional revenue is also expected to be generated through transfers, with the focus primarily on players such as Bryan Zaragoza, Sacha Boey, and Joao Palhinha.
