FC Bayern are continuing to work intensively on the transfer of Anthony Gordon. While negotiations are ongoing, Newcastle United are apparently already looking at possible successors
The transfer poker surrounding Anthony Gordon remains one of the hottest topics at FC Bayern. The Munich club are keen to sign the England international in the summer and are already in concrete talks with Newcastle United
While Bayern continue to work on an agreement, the Magpies‘ officials appear to be preparing internally for a possible scenario without Gordon
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are looking closely at Matías Fernández-Pardo from OSC Lille, with the 21-year-old at the top of their list of potential Gordon replacements
According to the report, Newcastle are „extremely impressed“ with the Belgian attacker
Fernández-Pardo to Newcastle?
Fernández-Pardo only moved from KAA Gent to Lille in the summer of 2024 for around €11.5 million, where the Belgian quickly developed into an important attacking player
In 71 competitive matches to date, the 21-year-old has scored a strong 23 goals, with twelve goals and eleven assists to his name
Particularly interesting from Newcastle’s point of view: despite his long-term contract until 2029, a transfer is apparently considered realistic
According to the report, Lille are said to have already assured the player when he moved to France that they would not put any obstacles in his way if they received a suitable offer from the Premier League
Bayern continue to work on Gordon deal
The developments could well play into FC Bayern’s hands in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon, as the more concretely Newcastle work on potential successors, the more realistic a sale of the England international appears

However, the biggest hurdle remains the transfer fee. According to media reports, Newcastle are still demanding around 80 to 90 million euros for Gordon. Bayern have so far refused to pay this sum and are still trying to push the price down significantly
Despite this, Munich are still considered the most promising candidate in the race for the attacking player and Gordon himself is said to be open to a move to Säbener Straße.
