According to reports in the Spanish media, FC Barcelona are keeping an eye on Konrad Laimer – and are even said to have intensified their observation of him recently. The Austrian international has developed into a permanent fixture under Vincent Kompany and could now be in the sights of a top European club
It comes as no surprise that Laimer is attracting interest from top international clubs. The 28-year-old embodies exactly the type of player that is in demand in modern soccer: tactically flexible, a strong runner and uncompromising in tackles. Under Kompany, he is mainly used as a full-back, but interprets this role much more offensively and dynamically than many classic defensive players

Contract situation causes tension
The situation is also explosive with regard to Laimer’s contract, which currently runs until 2027, but talks about an extension have not yet led to a breakthrough. The player himself recently made it clear what is important to him: appreciation
„At the end of the day, it’s always about appreciation. That the performance you’ve put in over the last few years is somehow recognized,“ Laimer explained in an interview with Servus TV. At the same time, he emphasized that he is relaxed about his current situation and feels comfortable both at FC Bayern and with the national team
Bayern actually has no pressure to sell
From a sporting point of view, the Austrian’s departure would be a significant loss for the record champions. Laimer has made 42 competitive appearances this season and is an indispensable part of Kompany’s system. His energy, running ability and tactical discipline make him one of the most important link players in Bayern’s game
Nevertheless, the interest from Barcelona shows once again that word quickly spreads about strong performances on the international stage.
