Chief Sports Officer Max Eberl and Sports Director Christoph Freund have drawn up a list of candidates for FC Bayern’s coaching search. Jürgen Klopp has not been on it so far. In view of the recent flood of cancellations, this could possibly change soon.

The search for a coach at FC Bayern threatens to end in disaster. With Xabi Alonso, Jürgen Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick, three „dream candidates“ have already turned Munich down. The search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel continues. But the question is: will FCB really find a top solution?

One name that has been repeatedly mooted in Munich in recent years is Jürgen Klopp. The 56-year-old will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season to take a sabbatical year. According to BILD football boss Christian Falk, the Bayern bosses would not hesitate for a second with Klopp: „Bayern would take Klopp immediately if there was a chance, but there isn’t one at the moment,“ he wrote in his column for CaughtOffside.

No contact between Bayern and Klopp

Interestingly, according to Falk, Klopp could still be a hot topic at Säbener Straße: „If they know they could get him in 2025, Bayern would certainly find a solution for that one year in between“.

According to rumours, those responsible at the Isar have so far ruled out an interim solution until the summer of 2025. In view of the numerous setbacks, there are certainly no longer any bans on thinking at FCB.

One thing is clear: there has been no contact between Bayern and Klopp to date. Max Eberl emphasised at the end of March that the former BVB coach is not an option for Tuchel’s successor: „I know what it means when you make statements like Kloppo. When a person says that, the job comes second. And the person comes first. In this respect, I will not call him.“

At the beginning of the year, Klopp announced in a complete surprise that he would be leaving Liverpool one year before the end of his contract. According to his own statements, he had „no more energy“ for the job. It is also unclear whether he actually wants to take on a new coaching job in the summer of 2025.
