The search for a coach at FC Bayern has so far been characterised by setbacks. Following the recent cancellation of Ralf Rangnick, Munich appears to have rethought its tactics. According to the latest reports, the record champions have adapted their approach in the search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel.

In the past, FC Bayern has hired top European coaches such as Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti. In view of the current coaching search, many fans and experts are asking themselves the question: How attractive is the coaching job at FC Bayern?

The Munich club has received three rejections in a row in recent weeks. Regardless of who will ultimately take over from Thomas Tuchel in the summer, it is already clear that this is not the Bayern bosses‘ favourite solution.

Bayern are talking to several candidates

As reported by BILD, Bayern have adapted their approach to the search for a coach. Following Rangnick’s rejection, several options are to be explored in parallel and no longer one after the other, as was previously the case with Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Rangnick.

According to BILD, Bayern are currently in contact with two specific names: Robert De Zerbi and Roger Schmidt.

De Zerbi has been a candidate at the Isar for some time. Max Eberl in particular is a fan of the Italian, who is regarded as a real tactician.

In addition to De Zerbi, Bayern are also looking at Roger Schmidt. The former Leverkusen coach is under contract with Benfica Lisbon. Schmidt has a history with RB and was coach at Red Bull Salzburg for two years. During this time, Schmidt also worked together with Bayern sports director Christoph Freund. According to reports, the Austrian has put Schmidt’s name in the running at FC Bayern.

The problem: although both candidates have a release clause, they would cost a lot of money. De Zerbi’s transfer fee is rumoured to be 15 million euros. The clause for Schmidt is even rumoured to be 30 million euros. In addition, De Zerbi recently committed himself to Brighton and emphasised that he does not want to leave the club in the summer.
