Konrad Laimer has now been a part of FC Bayern since 2023 after leaving RB Leipzig for the Munich club. The Austria international, who played against Slovakia and Turkey in March, now describes the differences between the German record champions and RB.

„I had a great time at Leipzig. But Bayern is a lot bigger – one of the biggest clubs in Europe with the biggest goals. You realise that here every day,“ revealed the midfielder in the circle of the Austrian national team: „If you don’t win everything in the end, it wasn’t good enough. It’s always about winning everything and that pushes you forward as an athlete,“ said the 26-year-old.

Laimer: New competition at FCB with Pavlovic

It will be exciting to see how often the Austrian will be on the pitch at FCB in the coming season. With the arrival of Aleksandar Pavlovic, the competition in the centre of midfield has become even greater. However, it is currently questionable whether Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka still have a future in Munich. Otherwise, Laimer was also used as a right-back, but with Noussair Mazraoui and Sacha Boey, there are now two players available who are trained full-backs – even if Boey is currently out injured.

Laimer has featured in 22 Bundesliga matches and has even contributed two assists in the current season. The 32-time Austria international has also appeared in seven Champions League matches. His transfer from Leipzig to Munich was completed on a free transfer in July 2023.

Laimer now wants to successfully prepare for the upcoming European Championship with his compatriots. Austria’s group opponents will be France, the Netherlands and another team to be determined by the play-offs.
