According to sporting director Max Eberl, those responsible at FC Bayern are considering a tactical switch. According to this, the record champions could line up with a double front line in future. It has now been announced that Joshua Zirkzee, an old acquaintance, could be hunting goals alongside Harry Kane for Bayern in the future.

As reported by kicker, Bayern bosses are actively considering the possible return of Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman was transferred to FC Bologna in the summer of 2022 and has been instrumental in the Italian club’s surprising fourth-place finish in Serie A this season.

The 22-year-old has scored 17 times in all competitions and has been named player of the month in Italy several times. Unsurprisingly, the striker has attracted the interest of several top clubs. Juventus, SSC Napoli and AC Milan in particular are said to have the young striker on their radar.

Bayern, however, have an ace up their sleeve. Zirkzee’s contract includes a release clause of €40 million, but Bayern would have to pay far less. When they let the attacker go almost two years ago, Munich secured a buy-back clause that allows them to bring Zirkzee back at half the price.

Zirkzee alongside Kane in the front two?

This clause would mean that the Dutchman would be available for just 20 million euros. According to kicker, a return depends above all on Zirkzee himself. It is questionable whether the Serie A star would line up behind Harry Kane, so the attacking jewel would have to be shown promising prospects. In the future, however, there could be the possibility of a vacancy alongside the England captain.

As Max Eberl recently discussed, the team at Säbener Straße are looking into the possibility of switching their attack to a dual front line: „Bayern Munich stands for offence, for goals. That’s why we’re thinking about a second number 9, of course. We don’t know at the moment whether we might play with a double centre-half,“ explained the sporting director recently in an interview with Sport BILD.

If those responsible were to decide in favour of this system change, Zirkzee would be an option as a top talent at an absolute bargain price.
