Joshua Kimmich has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona for some time now. The Catalans had already put out feelers for the midfielder in the summer of 2023. It has now been revealed that Kimmich is still a hot topic at Barça.

The rumour mill at FC Bayern is in full swing. The name Joshua Kimmich is also playing a major role. The 29-year-old has an important decision to make in the summer: Will he extend his contract in Munich again or will he look for a sporting challenge abroad?

As Sky recently revealed, Kimmich has not ruled out leaving Bayern at the end of the season. According to the pay-TV channel, however, only five clubs are being considered for the DFB international. One of these clubs is rumoured to be FC Barcelona.

Will Barça also snap up Kimmich after Gündogan?

According to kicker, Barcelona are also interested in the 29-year-old. The Catalans are said to have already made an approach for Kimmich last year. Barça coach Xavi Hernandez had even publicly courted the midfielder at the time.

Kimmich would meet his national team colleague Ilkay Gündogan at Camp Nou. The DFB captain moved from Manchester City to the Spanish top club on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

One thing is clear: if Bayern and Kimmich do not agree on an extension in the summer, the signs are pointing to his departure. Munich do not want to take any risks and lose Kimmich on a free transfer in 2025.

However, it is questionable whether Barcelona are in a position to finance a Kimmich transfer. The club is still heavily in debt. Bayern are hoping for a transfer fee of 70 to 80 million euros. Under certain circumstances, a spectacular swap deal could take place, with Barça sending Ronald Araujo to Munich and Kimmich moving to Spain in return.
