FC Bayern may be facing a major shake-up next summer. At least in the midfield of the German record champions, there will be a change in the hierarchy. Those responsible at the German record champions already have plans for how they would like to proceed with their players in the defensive midfield in the future.

As reported by Sky, FC Bayern are planning at least a minor shake-up next summer. According to the report, Joshua Kimmich, who has played in the centre of midfield in recent years, is a possible candidate for sale. The 29-year-old’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, and if no agreement is reached on an extension in the near future, he is likely to leave the club. According to reports, both parties could at least consider parting ways next summer.

One reason why Bayern bosses are not ruling out the possibility of parting with their long-serving key player is that there is to be a change in the midfield hierarchy in the future. In the future, they want to rely on Aleksandar Pavlovic as a permanent pillar in the defensive midfield. The 19-year-old came to the fore in his debut season and is currently even displacing Joshua Kimmich in the right-back position.

At least one six-man should be signed in the summer

At the same time, the club is still planning to sign Konrad Laimer. The Austrian joined from RB Leipzig in the summer and has a contract until 2027, but has not yet been able to establish himself in the starting eleven of the German record champions. Nevertheless, Laimer is said to continue to enjoy the trust of the bosses and is not considered a candidate for sale.

The situation is similar with Leon Goretzka. Although there have been frequent rumours in the past about the German international’s departure, the former Schalke player is said to enjoy a high status within the club. His contract in Munich runs until 2026.

In addition, the club is already working intensively on signing a new six-man. At least one defensive midfielder will definitely be joining Säbener Straße next summer, but it remains to be seen how this planned new arrival will fit into the new Bayern midfield hierarchy.
