Is FC Bayern already looking for a successor to Upamecano? According to the latest transfer rumours, Bayern are focusing on a young defender from the Premier League.

According to transfer expert Ekrem Konur, those responsible in Munich are interested in Jarrad Branthwaite. The 21-year-old would be a candidate for the record champions‘ central defence.

There have recently been rumours at FC Bayern about the possible departure of Dayot Upamecano, whose performances have been mixed this season. Could Branthwaite be the Frenchman’s successor?

Branthwaite: Left-footed for the FCB defence?

Branthwaite is only 21 years old, but has already become a permanent fixture at Everton FC. The fact that the England U21 international is left-footed and, at 1.95 metres tall, has clear advantages in aerial duels would speak in favour of signing him. The player is no stranger to the Bundesliga, as another German club, Borussia Dortmund, has already been linked with the Briton.

Bayern will be particularly interested to see how Branthwaite’s team, Everton FC, perform. The Toffees are currently 16th in the table and the defender would probably not be available in the event of relegation.

The defender, who was loaned out to Eindhoven last season, would be more difficult to sign if the club were to stay up, as his contract runs until 30 June 2027. However, FCB are not alone in their pursuit of the centre-back (who has already made 31 appearances in all competitions): Real Madrid and Manchester United are apparently also showing interest.
