Konrad Laimer has been linked with a move to FC Bayern for months. According to the latest media reports, the deal is now done and dusted. The midfielder has signed a long-term contract with the German record champions.

In the summer of 2021, RB Leipzig vetoed a transfer of Laimer to FC Bayern. A year later, the two clubs could not agree on a transfer fee and the transfer fell through in the home stretch. Now, at the third attempt, it has worked out. According to the newspaper „BILD“, the Austrian’s transfer to FC Bayern has been finalised.

Laimer signs with FCB until 2027

According to the paper, the transfer, which has been dragging on for months, is finally signed and sealed. According to „BILD“ information, the 25-year-old has signed a 4-year contract in Munich until 2027 and is thus the first new arrival at the FCB in the summer of 2023.

Laimer, whose contract in Leipzig expires at the end of the season, joins Bayern on a free transfer from league rivals RB. In addition to the record champions, Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC were also interested in the ÖFB player.

The midfielder is a true six and was considered an absolute favourite by former coach Julian Nagelsmann. The signing of Laimer will significantly increase the competition in Bayern’s midfield. Above all, the pressure on Leon Goretzka is likely to increase. It will also be exciting to see what happens with players like Marcel Sabitzer and Ryan Gravenberch in the summer. Bayern currently have five players available for the two positions in central/defensive midfield.
