After being knocked out of the DFB Cup, FC Bayern is also on the brink of elimination in the Champions League. Thomas Tuchel’s team deservedly lost the quarter-final first leg at Manchester City 0:3. From Joshua Kimmich’s point of view, the Munich team could have done better.

FC Bayern suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat against Manchester City on Tuesday evening. After the match, FCB captain Joshua Kimmich complained about the course of the game and the clear defeat: „The first 60 minutes were very, very good from us. Then we get another Sunday shot, like against Freiburg. Before that, we have a huge chance to make it 1:0 through Jamal Musiala. Then we are more prone to mistakes. Until 2-0, it was a game of equals. The result is bitter, of course.“

„Mistakes are naturally punished at this level“

After the change of ends, Bayern were close to equalising, but caught an individual mistake from Dayot Upamecano in the 70th minute to make it 2-0 through Bernardo Silva. After conceding the second goal, the Munich team looked visibly unsettled: „After the half-time break, we still believed we could turn the game around. The 2:0 is a mistake that is naturally punished at this level,“ said Kimmich.
