Julian Nagelsmann was visibly frustrated after the 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. The 35-year-old criticized his team for a „sluggish performance without power“. The head coach of Munich warns after the defeat against the Werkself, that the Bavarians in the title race give the reins out of hand. According to Nagelsmann, the upcoming top match against Borussia Dortmund will be a decisive game for Munich and the fight for the championship trophy.

Just before the World Cup in Qatar, Bayern had a full nine-point lead over Borussia Dortmund. Ten games later, the Munich team has lost its lead in the standings to BVB and is one point behind the Black and Yellows.

After the international break, there will be an „early final“ for the championship. On April 1, Bayern will welcome BVB to the Allianz Arena at home. According to Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern is threatened with another defeat, the premature title knockout in the Bundesliga.

„Then it will be difficult with the title“.

FC Bayern has played ten league games in the new year to date. Only five of them could be won. In addition to two defeats (Mönchengladbach and Leverkusen), they also played three times draw (Leipzig, Cologne, Frankfurt). In total, the record champion has thus left 12 points in 2023. All the more surprising is the fact that they are „only“ one point behind BVB and can overtake Dortmund again with a win at the beginning of April.

In the event of a defeat in the classic, however, Nagelsmann sees black in terms of the title fight: „We have to win against Dortmund. If we don’t win or, in the worst case, lose, then it will be difficult to win the title, given Dortmund’s current form,“ the 35-year-old stressed on Sunday evening after the defeat in Leverkusen.
