Spicy confession: Jamal Musiala has two PSG stars as role models
Jamal Musiala has already made a name for himself in international football as an absolute top talent. Due to his tight ball control and incredible dribbling, the 19-year-old has even been compared to Argentina legend Lionel Messi. The latter is also one of the Bayern youngster’s role models, as is his PSG colleague Neymar.
Despite his young age, Jamal Musiala was by far the most consistent and strongest Munich player in the first half of the season. After a brief period of weakness at the beginning of the year, the attacking midfielder has found his top form again and returned in time for the CL clash against Paris.
Musiala’s skills do not come from nowhere, however. In addition to his exceptional talent, the top technician has picked up a few tricks from the greatest players of the last decade and the present: „When I was growing up, I watched a lot of Messi videos and also some of Neymar,“ Musiala revealed in an interview with „bundesliga.com“ when asked about his role models. „It always amazed me how they go on the dribbles and it was always entertaining to watch them play,“ he continued.
CL round of 16: Musiala measures up against his idols
It should be all the more appealing for the Munich top talent to play against PSG with Messi and Neymar in the Champions League. For Musiala, however, it’s not about copying the South American superstars as best as possible, but rather using his own skills and relying on his light-heartedness: „I just try to have fun on the pitch and be as free as possible,“ the 19-year-old said calmly. „I go on dribbles and do everything I can to help the team win,“ he promised.
