Despite scoring against FC Barcelona, Leroy Sane was spotted being angry after he was substituted. The German has now revealed his reason.

After being subbed off by Mathys Tel in the 80th minute, Sane received a standing ovation from the Allianz Arena. Later on, Sane smashes his plastic bottle out of anger and then disappears into the stadium’s tunnel. At first glance, it seems like Sane was angry with the substitution, or even worse, he had suffered an injury.

But Sane revealed to the media that it was nothing serious. The player was rather angry at himself: „It was just emotions. I wasn’t mad about the substitution. In the end, I was a bit tired and the coach saw that. I didn’t play well.“

It is great to see Leroy Sane present a new attitude and wanting to improve. This season is also important for the player because he is under pressure to perform. The board is already counting on Sane to perform much better. After a monstrous first half of last season, Sane’s form dropped drastically and doubts surrounding his future already surfaced.

„I scored a goal, but I didn’t play well. I would rather not have scored and helped the team better“, continued Sane.

This season, Sane has scored 5 goals and made 3 assists.
