Official: Bayern Munich extend Torben Rhein’s contract and send him on loan

Torben Rhein is one of the most promising young talents on Bayern Munich’s youth sector. In recent months there has been a lot of speculation and rumor about the midfielder’s future.

Now it’s become official, the 19-year-old has extended his contract in Munich. However, Rhein will play in the Austrian Bundesliga next season.

Rhein has extended his expiring contract by three years to 2025. By doing so, the club prevented the German talent from leaving the room: „We are delighted that Torben has extended his contract and has committed himself to FC Bayern for another three years,“ explained youth boss Jochen Sauer.

Torben Rhein will be loaned out to the Austrian first division promoted SC Austria Lustenau in the coming season.

In Lustenau, the U19 international player should gain more match practice at a higher level. Last season, Rhein played 12 games for the Bayern amateurs in the regional league and played for the U17s and U19s of the German record champions at the same time.
