Next RB Leipzig star on the hunt? According to new reports, Bayern Munich are now getting serious about Konrad Laimer.

The Austrian midfielder has been talked about quite a few times over the past few weeks as a potential midfield signing. The one pushing the hardest for the midfielder is Julian Nagelsmann, with whom they worked together in Leipzig. The head coach appreciates the Austrian’s qualities a lot and is apparently the best man for the defensive midfield.

Although in the past couple of weeks it was reported only a mere interest, now things have begun to take shape. In the summer of 2021, Konrad Laimer used to be an option after Marcel Sabitzer was signed, but the Austrian decided to stay at RB Leipzig.

According to Fabrizio Romano and Christian Falk, Bayern Munich will prepare an ‚opening bid‘ of 18 to 20 million euros in order to open talks with RB Leipzig for the Austrian defensive midfielder. Julian Nagelsmann is also pushing harder for the transfer. According to Romano, Premier League clubs are also interested, but Bayern want to fulfill Nagelsmann’s wishes.

Though it’s interesting that RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has confirmed that Laimer will not be sold in the summer. It will be quite interesting whether RB Leipzig will be willing to let go of another RB Leipzig player to title rivals Bayern Munich. This also sends a signal to Marcel Sabitzer, who was said to be Nagelsmann’s dream player last summer, and with the player barely being trusted it’s likely that he is going to seek a transfer in the summer.
