Bayern Munich has had to do without Leon Goretzka for almost three months. The 26-year-old has been struggling due to persistent knee pain for quite some time now. But now it looks like there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
During the press conference before tomorrow’s away game against Eintracht Frankfurt, head coach Julian Nagelsmann has provided the fans with updates on Manuel Neuer and Leon Goretzka. Both are making very good progress with their rehab.
Nagelsmann in particular was happy with Goretzka’s development, but like always, the club will not be rushing things with Goretzka and will wait until he recovers fully. Fortunate is, that the midfielder has now started to train once again with the ball.
„Leon is moving much faster again. I am pleased that we are taking steps in the right direction for the first time. I don’t want to make a prediction so as not to put him under pressure, but we obviously miss him on the pitch as a person and as a footballer“
Neuer could soon be making his return
Bayern fans will be particularly happy with this news. Manuel Neuer could soon return on the pitch faster than expected: „Manuel hasn’t had major problems with his knee. So I’m optimistic that we’ll see him again soon“, said Nagelsmann.
According to „BILD“, the chances are increasing that Manuel Neuer features for Bayern Munich in the second leg against RB Salzburg. Today, he trained with the ball.
Musiala to replace Müller
Jamal Musiala ended his quarantine a week ago and is now back once again with the team. Following another positive test in Thomas Müller, coach Julian Nagelsmann trusts the 18 years old to replace the legend and also gives updates on Müller’s condition.
„Thomas is fine, he only had a slight cold. We are very happy about that.“
„One option to replace him is Jamal. He trained very well and I liked what I saw. He is the number one candidate for the position to replace Thomas.”
