Minjae Kim is undoubtedly one of FC Bayern’s standout performers in the early part of the season. The South Korean center back has consistently delivered strong performances. That’s one reason why teams from abroad are keeping a close eye on him.
After a disappointing World Cup, Kim returned to Munich in the summer and was considered a transfer candidate at the time. But even though several clubs inquired about him, a transfer did not materialize.
Kim didn’t want to leave FC Bayern at any cost. Instead, he was determined to fight for his chance in Munich. And that paid off.
Nevertheless, the rumors persist. Aston Villa is reportedly still keeping an eye on the South Korean. AC Milan also continues to view Kim as an exciting player.
Milan is considering signing Kim
According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri have decided internally that, if possible, they should sign another player for the center of defense. Ideally, this would happen as early as this winter. The Bayern star, who is familiar with Serie A from his time at Napoli, would fit the profile they’re looking for. At the very least, contacts have been made with his entourage.

However, it is doubtful that FC Bayern would take on such a challenge as early as the winter transfer window. If they were to sell Kim, they would need a replacement—and one who could provide immediate reinforcement, since the experienced South Korean is currently a key part of Bayern’s rotation at center back.
In any case, Milan would also have to clear a major hurdle in terms of financing. According to reports, Bayern would only enter into negotiations at all if the transfer fee were at least 25 million euros. On top of that, Kim’s net salary—which is said to be around seven million euros—is not something Milan can simply afford.
For this reason, a transfer—at least in the winter—seems virtually out of the question. It remains to be seen how things will develop by the summer. In any case, Bayern’s plan is to hold discussions with Kim and his advisors over the course of the season and then make a decision.
