Harry Kane’s contract extension with FC Bayern is taking on more and more concrete form. The striker’s current contract expires in the summer of 2027. In Munich, efforts have been underway for quite some time to extend the Englishman’s contract early.
At this point, the focus seems less on whether Kane will sign an extension and more on the specific terms of his new contract. Most recently, the 33-year-old himself hinted that talks are well advanced.
A two-year extension through 2029 is on the table. However, according to information from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, final financial details still need to be worked out.
Bayern Open to a Release Clause
Another point under discussion is apparently a possible buyout clause. Especially with an eye toward Kane’s potential return to the English Premier League at a later date, officials at Säbener Straße are reportedly open in principle to such an arrangement.
Such a scenario could provide Kane with additional flexibility in the long term. At the same time, Bayern would have secured their top scorer beyond 2027 for the time being.
CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen had already made it clear before the international break that the Munich club would like to finalize the contract extension soon. The CEO is personally leading the talks with the player’s representatives.
Will Kane sign as early as October?
According to information from Sport BILD, Bayern aims to wrap up negotiations after the international break. As soon as Kane returns to Munich, things could move quickly.
This means a contract signing could take place as early as October. Kane also has a special event coming up this month: The Ballon d’Or will be awarded in London on October 26.
The Bayern striker is among the candidates for the prestigious award. Regardless of that, another important decision regarding his future could be made shortly before or after the ceremony.
