Karim Adeyemi currently plays for FC Barcelona, and he also wants to make his mark again on the German national team. The forward also played for FC Bayern at one point, though only in the youth ranks.
Things didn’t go perfectly for the forward in Munich, which is why he took a different path. After stints at clubs including Unterhaching, he eventually joined RB Salzburg. In Austria, he gained his first professional experience and proved himself.
In 2022, BVB snapped him up, paying around 30 million euros for the speedy player, who occasionally showed glimpses of his potential in Dortmund. However, he never managed to deliver consistently over a longer period of time.
Adeyemi: BVB became “my favorite club over time”
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper AS , Adeyemi recentlyspoke about his time with the German record champions.
When asked why he left Munich and whether he generally preferred Dortmund, Adeyemi replied: “I spent three years at Bayern Munich, and they let me go. I’m from Munich, so I was a Bayern fan, but over time, Dortmund became my favorite club.”
The forward, who has made a good impression at FC Barcelona so far, also commented diplomatically: “I watched a lot of their games as a teenager. I like both clubs and have great memories of my time at Bayern, but I loved my time at Dortmund. The stadium and the fans are incredible.”
That’s not surprising, since he played as a professional in Dortmund, while at FC Bayern he was only in the youth system. Naturally, the experiences are completely different because as an adult you take in entirely different things and perceive the atmosphere differently.
In any case, he doesn’t seem to regret leaving Munich. Especially since no one can guarantee that, had he stayed with Bayern, he would have even become a professional.
