Michael Olise delivered an extraordinary performance in FC Bayern’s 7-0 rout of Union Berlin. The 24-year-old was involved in five of Munich’s seven goals and capped off his stellar evening with the first hat trick of his club career.
Even before scoring his first goal, Olise had played a decisive role in the game. The Frenchman drew the penalty that Harry Kane converted in the 39th minute to make it 2–0. Just four minutes later, Olise got to celebrate himself. After receiving a pass from Jamal Musiala, he scored with a spectacular long-range shot to make it 3–0.
Olise remained unstoppable after the break as well. In the 54th minute, he broke through on the right flank and delivered a precise cross to Kane, who headed in his second goal of the evening.
By that point, Olise had already scored a goal, set up another, and drawn a penalty. But his stellar individual performance was far from over.
Olise completes his first club hat trick
In the closing stages, the Frenchman really turned it up a notch. In the 73rd minute, Tom Bischof sent Olise on his way with a long ball. The attacking star controlled the ball well, rounded Union goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow, and finished off the play with the help of the post to make it 6–0.
Just three minutes later, the next goal followed. Once again, Bischof was involved. The youngster backheeled the ball to Olise, who controlled it and, from a central position, curled a spectacular shot into the right corner.
That completed his hat trick—and marked a first for Olise at the club level.
This is particularly noteworthy because the Frenchman has consistently delivered outstanding performances since his move to FC Bayern in the summer of 2024. However, he had never scored three goals in a single club match before the Union game.
Olise had already scored a hat trick while playing for the French national team. He netted three goals in a friendly against Northern Ireland ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Now he has achieved this feat for a club for the first time.
Olise’s stats are becoming increasingly impressive
Olise’s stats also show just how strongly he has started the new season. Across all competitions, the Frenchman has already tallied eight goals and three assists in seven appearances. That brings his total to 11 direct goal contributions—and significantly more points than games played.
In the 7-0 win over Union, his impact was even greater than the traditional scoring statistics suggest. In addition to his three goals and one assist, Olise also drew the penalty that led to the 2-0 goal. Thus, he was directly involved in five of Bayern’s seven goals.
Consequently, the 24-year-old was named Man of the Match after the game.
Olise has been performing at an exceptionally high level for quite some time now. Against Union, however, he once again put an exclamation point on his development.
Three goals, one assist, a penalty kick earned, and the first hat trick of his club career: it’s hard to imagine a single offensive player having a more dominant impact on a game.
