FC Bayern overcame a tough challenge at SV Elversberg and came away with a 2-1 victory. One of the standout players on the field was, of all people, a familiar face: Maurice Krattenmacher scored a spectacular goal against his former club to tie the game at 1-1.
The youngster had only moved from FC Bayern to Elversberg before the season began and immediately settled in superbly with the newly promoted team. Krattenmacher had already drawn attention to himself with two goals in the spectacular 4-3 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
He followed that up against Munich. Shortly after coming on as a substitute, the attacking player took a chance and curled the ball perfectly into the top corner from just outside the penalty area. Jonas Urbig in the Bayern goal had no chance against this dream goal.

After the match, despite the loss, Krattenmacher said he was satisfied with his team’s performance. “We set out to play as well as possible. And for the most part, that’s exactly what we did.”
He later described his goal to DAZN: “It was a good pass, then I saw the space opening up. Of course I hit it well, and then it went in perfectly.”
However, the youngster doesn’t want to overemphasize his personal successes. When asked if he had already set a specific goal-scoring target for himself after his strong start to the season, Krattenmacher replied: “I take it one game at a time and hope to pick up as many points as possible. Personal successes are great, but the goal is to avoid relegation.”
For Elversberg, Krattenmacher could still become a key factor in the fight to avoid relegation. In any case, his first appearances show why Bayern is likely to keep a close eye on his development even after he leaves.
Kompany Congratulates Krattenmacher
An interesting moment took place immediately after the final whistle. Vincent Kompany approached Krattenmacher on the field to speak with him. The two stood arm in arm on the field and chatted.
Krattenmacher himself later revealed what the Bayern coach had told his former player: “He congratulated me on the goal and wished me all the best for the season.”
However, this reunion might not be the last. Bayern secured a buyback option for Krattenmacher when they sold him. This gives the Munich club the option to bring the attacking player back if he develops accordingly.
It is precisely this development that is currently gaining momentum. Krattenmacher is gaining valuable Bundesliga playing experience with the newly promoted team and has already made a strong impression in his first few weeks.
