Harry Kane has ended his brief scoring drought in the Bundesliga—and in doing so, created a historic moment. The Bayern star scored his first league goal of the new season during the away game at SV Elversberg, thereby reaching a very special milestone.
After the 33-year-old failed to score in the first two Bundesliga matches against Stuttgart and Schalke, Kane struck again on Sunday evening. The Englishman had already found the back of the net in the Champions League and the DFB Cup, and now he’s finally broken his drought in Germany’s top flight as well.
In the 72nd minute, Aleksandar Pavlovic set up the striker in the penalty area. Kane received the ball from a position slightly to the right and, while falling, scored with a technically impressive shot into the top right corner.
The goal was hugely important for Bayern: Kane put the record champions ahead 2-1.
Kane breaks the 150-goal mark
But it wasn’t just the score that made the goal special. For Kane, it was his 150th goal in a Bayern Munich jersey.
The Englishman needed just 153 competitive matches for the German record champions to reach that milestone. Since his move to Munich, Kane has etched his name into the club’s history books at an impressive pace.
The forward is already showing his scoring touch again in the new season. Although he initially had to wait for his first goal in the Bundesliga, Kane had long since proven his scoring instinct in other competitions.
Against Elversberg, he finally ended his brief league scoring drought—and did so with a goal that proved crucial for Munich in a difficult match.
