FC Bayern could see more players leave shortly before the transfer window closes. While the club is already working intensively on solutions for Bryan Zaragoza and Joao Palhinha, a transfer is now also on the horizon for Felipe Chávez. The 19-year-old Bayern prospect is set to go on loan and apparently has no shortage of interest.
As reported by BILD, Bayern Munich and Chávez have reached a basic agreement on another loan deal. However, it remains to be seen where the attacking midfielder will end up. According to the report, a bidding war has even broken out for the Peruvian national team player.
Three German clubs—1. FC Magdeburg, Eintracht Braunschweig, and 1. FC Heidenheim—are reportedly showing interest in Chávez. Magdeburg, in particular, is said to have been making an intense push for the youngster recently.
A move to Portugal is also a possibility.
But Chávez could also continue his development abroad. As FCBinside previously reported, Estrela Amadora, a Portuguese first-division club, is in the running for the 19-year-old.
The club is currently making headlines for another reason as well. Former German national team players Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels are being touted there as potential future investors.
For Chávez, the main priority in choosing his next club is regular playing time at the professional level. That is precisely what FC Bayern cannot currently guarantee him.
Yet the homegrown talent certainly made a name for himself during summer training. In a 4-2 preseason win against 1. FC Heidenheim, Chávez scored with a spectacular free kick. He had already scored a goal during the team’s Asian tour in the 2-1 victory over Jeju SK.
In the traditional friendly against FC Rottach-Egern, the midfielder also contributed two goals and three assists in the 15-0 victory.
Kompany currently has no room for Chávez
Despite his impressive performances, competition at Bayern—especially on offense—is fierce. Coach Vincent Kompany therefore apparently sees no realistic prospect of regular playing time for Chávez at this time.
A loan move is now intended to give the youngster the opportunity to take the next step in his development. Chávez already gained professional soccer experience on loan at 1. FC Köln during the second half of last season, making seven competitive appearances there.
In total, the Peruvian international, who was born in Aichach, has made nine Bundesliga appearances for Bayern and Cologne so far. Otherwise, Chávez has primarily played for the record champion’s youth teams and its Regionalliga squad.
Now, there are strong indications that he will once again leave Munich on a temporary basis. The question now seems less to be whether Chávez will be loaned out, and more about which of the interested clubs will ultimately secure his services.
