Musiala initially collapsed without any external cause during the Telekom Cup match against RB Leipzig. Just a few days later, the situation repeated itself in the friendly against 1. FC Heidenheim. The 23-year-old had only been substituted into the game in the 61st minute and had to leave the field again shortly thereafter.
He subsequently announced his own diagnosis: “Temporary, brief episodes—which are easily treatable—of absence, attributable to neurological dysfunction.”
Musiala Not in the Roster Against Dortmund
Reports had already emerged on Thursday indicating that Musiala would not yet be back for the first competitive match of the new season. Vincent Kompany has now confirmed this as well.
“No, he’s not on the roster,” Kompany confirmed succinctly, adding, “We know how to handle this. He’ll be training on his own this week.”
For Kompany, this absence presents yet another personnel challenge. With Musiala out, the team loses another option on offense.
Against Dortmund, the coach will therefore have to rely on other solutions. However, with Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, Harry Kane, and new signing Ismael Saibari, several top-class players are available.
Saibari, in particular, could play an interesting role here. The Moroccan could start in the number 10 position against Dortmund, which, as he himself says, is also his favorite position.
