At Säbener Straße, work is currently underway on more than just the roster for the new season. While Bayern’s executives keep a close eye on the transfer market, extensive modernization efforts are underway at the club’s facilities. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has now provided an update on the status of the construction work.
Even before the pros officially began preseason training, the FC Bayern training facility was already a hive of activity. Excavators and construction workers have been a common sight on Säbener Straße for weeks. The record champions are deliberately using the summer break to comprehensively modernize key areas of their club grounds.
The goal is to offer the pros even better conditions for training, recovery, and medical care in the future. At the same time, the experience for fans at the club’s facilities is also set to be enhanced.
“Even better conditions for our sporting success”
The focus of the work is on expanding the professional wing, modernizing the rehabilitation area, and renovating several training fields. In addition, the FC Bayern Store is getting a completely new look.
CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far on the club’s official website: “The renovated fields, the modernized rehabilitation area, and the expansion of the professional wing will create additional training, diagnostic, and rehabilitation opportunities—and thus even better conditions for our sporting success.”
Fans are also set to benefit from these measures. “It’s also great that our FC Bayern Store is getting a new look. This will allow us to offer our fans even more at Säbener Straße in the future—at a location that embodies our club’s identity like no other. Säbener Straße is and will always be the home of FC Bayern Munich,” Dreesen added.
Kompany’s special wish comes true
In addition to the infrastructure improvements, a request from head coach Vincent Kompany is also being fulfilled. On the ground floor of the professional training facility, a new meeting room is being built directly at the transition from the locker room to the training field. This should make tactical instructions and communication with the team even faster and more direct.
Despite the extensive renovation work, the club says training operations are guaranteed at all times. Work is proceeding “at full speed” at Säbener Straße to complete the construction project quickly.
Some of the modernized areas are expected to be ready for use as early as the coming weeks. As things stand, the project is scheduled for full completion in January. This will allow FC Bayern to create optimal conditions for the team and coaching staff just in time for the second half of the season.
