For a long time, Minjae Kim was considered a candidate for a transfer at FC Bayern. Now, club officials have apparently changed their plans. Following internal discussions, a surprising turnaround appears to be on the horizon for the center back.
FC Bayern has been working intensively on its roster for the new season in recent weeks. In addition to the signings of Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, the focus has primarily been on potential departures. Minjae Kim, too, has repeatedly been linked with a move.
Now, however, there has been a surprising turnaround. As Sky reports, the record champions’ management has revised its internal assessment of the South Korean international following further discussions. Accordingly, Kim is no longer on the list of players to be sold.
Instead, the Munich club is planning to keep the 28-year-old for the upcoming season. Internally, his reliability on the field is highly valued. When Kim plays, he consistently delivers solid performances, according to club officials. The center back also enjoys a good reputation within the team. He is considered a popular teammate who puts the team first while also demonstrating leadership qualities.
A Change of Heart on Kim Following an XXL Offer?
This change in assessment is also affecting transfer plans. According to information from Sky, FC Bayern is not currently looking for a new center back. The reason is the decision to continue working with Kim and to firmly incorporate him into Vincent Kompany’s plans.

However, a departure is not completely ruled out. Should an exceptionally lucrative offer come in for the Munich club, the club’s leadership might reconsider its position. As things stand, however, this scenario is considered unlikely.
This points to a clear trend: While FC Bayern continues to work on sales in other areas of the squad, Minjae Kim is expected to wear the jersey of the German record champions again next season following the internal reassessment. Only an exceptionally generous offer would make another change in his status conceivable.
